Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University in collaboration with a2i of ICT Division and organised a two-days boot camp at its temporary campus at Dhaka on Sunday and Monday.

The camp was held under the Rocketry Innovation Challenge 2022 programme under the ICT division of the government to encourage design, development and innovation of model rockets in the country.

The goal of the competition is to seek talent for the design, development and production of model rockets indigenously. Initially, 121 teams from across the country submitted their ideas online for the programme.

A joint committee consisting of faculty members and experts from the ICT Division and BSMRAAU initially selected 32 teams for the boot camp. In these two-days event, the faculty members and experts of BSMRAAU provided technical and other advice about rocketry to the 32 teams.

BSMRAAU Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal A S M Fakhrul  Islam, OSP, GUP, ndc, afwc, psc, GD (P) was present as chief guest and inaugurated the boot camp session at the university. Welcoming the participants in the boot camp, he applauded the interest of the young generation in realizing the desired goal of the father of the nation in space science. BSMRAAU assured to stand by this great effort at all times.

Air Vice-Marshal (Retd) Mahmud Hossain delivered the welcome address and innovation programme expert Naeem Ashrafi presented a2i programme pitch deck.

Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, a2i project director delivered his closing remarks. Mr. Kabir thanked the BSMRAAU authorities for their cooperation in making this inaugural effort of the a2i project of the government a success. He expressed hope that the journey we have started through today's program will be realized one day and the National Flag of Bangladesh will be placed on space. Pro-Vice Chancellor Air Commodore Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan concluded the session as chief guest.

The a2i representatives, teachers, students of the university were present on the occasion.
